New Local Rule for Rain Damage to Bunkers
Nov 30
The following Local Rule is in use from Saturday Nov 30th
Areas in bunkers where sand has been removed by the movement of water, resulting in deep furrows through the sand are Ground Under Repair.
Please note that where this condition exists, the bunker itself remains in play but free relief from the affected area may be taken by dropping a ball in the bunker within 1 club length of it, no nearer the hole.
Information is available at the clubhouse and this Local Rule will appear on the scorecard when the next batch of scorecards are printed.
It is always best to agree with your playing partners that your ball is affected by such an area before taking relief.

Right 15th Cathedral Right hand bunker. This photo was taken before the new sand was put in bunker

Information from Clubv1 re wrong handicaps when signing in.
This information was received yesterday from Clubv1
Posted 18th May
An issue was raised regarding a number of players booked into Singles Competitions that had incorrect Course and Playing Handicaps. After some investigation, we found that when the players were booked in initially, their Course and Playing Handicaps were correct using the new calculations of Course Rating - Par. However if a player then had a handicap index adjustment, following on from the completion of the overnight handicap download from the CDH, their competition handicap recalculation was not always including Course Rating - Par; causing these competition handicaps to be updated incorrectly.
We have released a fix and as of May 17th, all Singles Competition handicaps have been recalculated to ensure they are correct. This only affected the handicaps displayed on the start sheet, so once players signed in or entered a score, their handicaps would have been recalculated again using the correct calculation.
A similar issue was raised for Team Competitions but unfortunately we are unable to recalculate these automatically. All bookings into Team Competitions made from this point forward will have correct handicaps, however for Team Competitions where a team has booked in on or prior to May 17th, this may nor be the case. Once the team sign in or enters a score, their handicaps will recalculate using the correct calculations.
Walk for Charity.
Posted 29th April
Remember you would have received this email from Ann a while back. The walk took place today 29th April. The pair walked the 26,2 miles in 7hrs 33mins.
More to follow in the next newsletter BUT there is still time to donate!
My friend Susie and I are fundraising for The PSP Association by walking a marathon in one day between local golf clubs. We will start at Bognor GC, then go to Littlehampton GC, Ham Manor, Worthing and back to Littlehampton where we will collapse exhausted! PSP is a cruel disease (very like Parkinsons but also like Motor Neuron) for which there is no cure, the husband of a golfing friend suffers from it, hence the choice of charity for our walk.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to The PSP Association, so it's the most efficient way to give - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
You can donate to the JustGiving page by clicking here https://www.justgiving.com/page/susie-de-las-casas-1708615309200?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page%2Fsusie-de-las-casas-1708615309200&utm_source=email&utm_campaign=pfp-email
JustGiving sends your donation straight to The PSP Association and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.
Thank you for your support!
Best wishes,
Ann

GUR
(Ground Under Repair)
Posted 7/4
It is worth reading the definition of GUR in Rules of Golf under definitions as it is very extensive.
Please note you should only enter areas of GUR to retrieve your golf ball
You should not walk through an area of GUR and not with your trolley!!
Relief from GUR is "Free Relief" at the nearest point, no nearer the hole.
Depending where your ball is sitting in the GUR your nearest point of relief maybe to the side of the GUR.
It is always best to check with your playing partner that they agree with the point at which you are taking free relief is the nearest point of relief and not nearer the hole.

17th Hole Cathedral Out of Bounds posts
1/2
The red penalty area posts have been removed up the right side of the 17th hole on the Cathedral. The Out of Bounds have been moved to the right edge of the general play area i.e. the OB posts are on the edge of the ditch running up the right side of the hole, so the ditch is now Out of Bounds.

Away Day
The Away Day Competition is not run by the Ladies' Committee, so is therefore not a qualifying competition. It is like a society competition, so can be run using 100% of Course Handicap as the "Society" is not affiliated to England Golf, as is the Ladies' Section.
Pace of Play
Did you know the recommended pace of play for a four ball is:
Cathedral Course
Front nine No more than 2 hours 20 minutes
Back nine No more than 2 hours
Tower Course
Holes 1-11 No more than 2 hours 15 minutes
Holes 12-18 No more than 1 hour 45 minutes
