Stableford Rounds

Stableford Score for Handicap Purposes

If a player blobs a hole in a Stableford Competition what happens for Handicap Purposes?

When you enter your scores into the system, when it says NO SCORE it will ask you either:

Played hole but did not score

or

Did not play hole

Played hole but did not score is the most common entry

For handicap purposes the system will apply a score of 1 over the score where you would score 1 stableford point

 or

think of it as the par of the hole plus 2 plus what ever handicap strokes the player gets on the hole

e.g.  Hole 10 on the  Cathedral player gets 1 handicap stroke on the hole, so if she plays the hole but does not score for handicap purposes the system applies a 7 to the players score for that hole.

This is known as a nett double bogey

Did not play hole is not very often entered.

Why would you not play the hole?

e.g. Lack of time, because you have to be elsewhere, means you might miss out the 16th / 17th Cathedral

Bad weather means your group decide to miss out the 16th / 17th on the Tower

If you enter No Score - Did not play hole it will show as DNP on that hole, but on the player's EG app it will have applied the score for handicap purposes.

For handicap purposes the system will apply a score of a nett par

e.g. Hole 10 on the Cathedral, player gets 1 handicap stroke so her nett par equals 5

( par 4 plus 1 = 5)

On EG app it will show as *(5)

IT IS THEREFORE VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SELECT THE CORRECT OPTION WHEN REGISTERING A NO SCORE

This happened to one of our ladies recently - she clicked on NO SCORE - did not play hole, when in fact she had played the hole but had not scored. She had a greater handicap index reduction than she should have!! Handicap Secretary has rectified the problem!!
