Medal Rounds

Did you know?

If you have an absolute disaster on a hole, you can blob the hole but continue to play the remaining holes.

If you do this you will be out of the competition but the score will still count for handicap purposes

So what gross score is entered by the computer system for Handicap purposes on the hole that you blobbed?

It would be the score on that hole which would be one over the score, you would score one stableford point, if the competition was a stableford competition.

or

add 2 to the par of the hole plus the number of H/C strokes you receive on that hole

EXAMPLE

Player with Playing Handicap of 30, is playing the 12th hole on the Cathedral. She has put 3 balls in the pond in front of the green!

She would be playing her 10th shot if she dropped a fourth ball. She really does not want to lose another ball! So she picks up.

She could have been racking up a 13 or more on the hole

By picking up she is out of the medal competition.

However, she can continue from the 13th to score for handicap purposes.

She finishes the round and although she was out of the medal competition her score  counted for handicap purposes.

On the result sheet it will say NR against her name. (the NR means she did not return a scorecard where she had scored on every hole).

For handicap purposes only, the system would have added a 9 to her score on Hole 12. ( one shot over the score where she would have scored 1 stableford point or 5 plus 2 plus 2).

The player's score will count as one of her last twenty scores and if the 12th was her only bad hole, it is possible for her score to count as one of her best 8 of her last 20 scores.
